Christmas is just around the corner!  Here’s a quick DIY gift for that someone who’s always cold!  Some of us just can’t get warm in the winter and need blankets in every seat of the house.  Flannel blankets are perfect!  Even though flannel isn’t super thick, it’s still cozy and easy to wrap around you.

flannel blankets (3 of 1)I picked up some flannel on sale at a local craft store and whipped up some blankets in about an hour.  Seriously.  An hour… And that includes chasing after a one year old at the same time.  Here’s how you can make a few easy DIY flannel blankets too:

Materials:

– 2 yards of any flannel fabric

-coordinating thread

Step 1: Prewash your fabrics (always a good idea for any sewing project) and square up your fabric.  I usually just fold my fabric into fourths and even up the sides.  It’s not necessarily a square…. just even around the sides.

Step 2: Serge around all four edges.  I used the rolled hem stitch on my serger, but you can use the basic overlock stitch.  If you don’t have a serger, a zigzag stitch on your sewing machine will work too.

That’s it.  You’re finished!  How easy was that?  Once you make one, you can make one for every room in the house because you’ll want to!flannel blankets (1 of 1)flannel blankets (4 of 1)
