This AccuQuilt GO! Baby Fabric Cutter Starter Set has just been sitting in my sewing room. I don’t typically do too much with appliqués and hadn’t taken the time to think about what else I could do with it. My four-year-old has been begging me to show him how to use it, so we finally got it out and played with it. We LOVED it!
The kids had fun picking out felt colors for their animals and placing the die and felt in the cutter. I had to help them crank the handle, but they enjoyed watching the die and felt slide through to the other side and taking the felt off the cutter. We happened to have the calico cat and gingham dog dies , so after we had cut a few I thought it would be fun to glue them to a stick and make puppets.
Obviously, my little ones were super excited to get out the glue and embellish their felt animals with buttons, ribbons and shiny confetti. Such a great quick project to do with little kids. Now that I know how easy the fabric cutter is to use, I can’t wait to try using it to make some appliqués for a quilt. I had a little quilt with different colored Sunbonnet Sues on it when I was little, and I think it would be fun to use the Sunbonnet Sue die to make one for Kate!
