We are still waiting on this baby girl to arrive! Hopefully not too much longer, but in the meantime, I thought I’d share a little glimpse of her nursery. Before it was a nursery, her room was the guestroom with two twin beds. We kept one twin bed in there for guests and added her crib, so we have a nursery/guestroom going on now. We’ll see how it works!
These antique twin beds with the acorns on the bedposts are probably one of my favorite things we have around here, but the crib we’re using is obviously very modern. I wasn’t sure how to tie these two styles together, and I’m still working on that… I figured I would try to keep everything in the room super light and as neutral as possible for now.
I decided to make pillowcases that would go with the quilt I made for baby girl and the pale pink sheets that are in her crib. Apparently, I have this things for stripes, because I seem to be adding them to every room in the house. But really, don’t they just make everything beautiful! I chose fabric from Karen Lewis’ Blueberry Park collection for the main fabric on the pillowcases. Unfortunately, I cut the selvage off the dark grey and white stripe fabric on the ends of the pillowcase, so I can’t tell you where it’s from… The sweet light pink fabric is Net in Apricot by Dear Stella. The lace trim is just something I picked up at the local craft store.
I’m pretty sure that my mom and Zachary’s mom just about passed out when they saw the lace and pink I have going on, but I’m going to call this pink a peachy pink and as for the lace… I have no excuse. I guess all this “girliness” finally caught up with me.
These pillowcases were so much fun to make, and it would be easy to combine all sorts of pretty fabrics and just keep making more! Believe it or not, I had never made a pillowcase before this. I ended up following Leslie’s super easy tutorial to make pillowcases with french seams. Her directions and photos made it clear to follow, plus she has tons of other tutorials as well!
Want to know something else special about this guestroom/nursery? My super talented mother-in-law over at A Bit of Stitch made this beautiful little pillow for baby girl that goes perfectly on the guest bed. I showed her a picture a while back of this cute little saying that Zachary remembers his grandmother often telling them when they were growing up, and Evy hand embroidered it along with these sweet flowers and darling deer. Isn’t it perfect! She had to keep up the tradition of hand embroidering a pillow for the grandkids, and I’m so glad she did!
I’m loving all the greys with the hints of pink here and there. I know it will be a while before baby girl even sleeps in her crib, but I can’t wait for her to enjoy the room! It makes me smile every time I walk by!
