Nursery glider

Remember my goal to make at least one thing a week that I’ve never made before? Well, I stepped it up a notch this week and completed two new projects in three days.  My brain hurts!

I found this awesome fabric on Spoonflower and loved all the coordinating fabrics by mrshervi as well.  I knew I wanted the chevron fabric to be the main focus in the room and decided to recover the cushions from an old glider that my mom gave us.  Let me just warn you… I have never recovered cushions before and apparently had no idea how complex it could be.  I cut the old fabric off the cushions and used it as my pattern for the new fabric.  Everything went great until I’d finished my seat cushion and realized that I hadn’t lined up the columns on the top and bottom of the cushion… Fail.

But being the stubborn Cuban that I am, I tore out my stitches and thankfully had enough seam allowance to shift the bottom piece over to match the top.  Really the process of making the cushions wasn’t so difficult, it was just making sure that the geometric design matched from the back cushion to the seat cushion and that the top and bottom pieces of each lined up as well.

I can’t wait for baby to be here, so we can rock him in our awesome little chair!  Check back later for more sneak peeks of the nursery.

  1. I’ve been looking at the fabric on Spoonflower for a while now (looking for woodland themed fabric) I’m wanting to re-cover my glider as well… Just wondering how many yards of fabric you ordered for this project.

    • Love Spoonflower! I only ordered 2 yards, but it wasn’t enough to match the design around every side. I would order 3 yards the next time around. Also, you might want to get heavy weight/home dec fabric. Good luck!
